March: Transfers (if necessary) - If El Paso High School is not your Home Campus based on EPISD's Attendance Zones, a Transfer Request must be submitted. DO NOT SUBMIT this request until Transfer Requests open for the 2024-2025 school year. A notification email will be sent out to all committed students and their families when the date Transfer Requests opens for the 2023-2024 school year is announced (expect an email in late February or March).
March / April: Registration - Registration for the 2024-2025 school year does not open until March or April. DO NOT SUBMIT student registration until it has opened for the 2024-2025 school year. A notification email will be sent out to all committed students and their families when the date Registration opens for the 2025-2025 school year is announced (expect an email in March).
The process is slightly different for students that do not require a transfer and students that require a transfer.
Students NOT requiring a transfer - When registration for 2024-2025 opens, students can register
Students requiring a transfer - Students requiring a transfer must have their Transfer Request approved before they can register. You will receive a notice from EPISD when your student's Transfer Request has been approved. When you receive this notice, please contact our Registrar's Office so that they can complete the Transfer Process. The Registrar's Office will advise you once the Transfer Process has been completed and the student can register.
May / June / July: Student Schedules - There is a processing period once students are registered. The Registrar's Office and / or the student's counselor will contact you to advise you that the student's schedule is ready to be created by the counselor. The Magnet Coordinator advises the counselors of the Magnet and Special Program(s) the student is in. Students are expected to complete Magnet & Special Programs course requirements; Magnet and Special Programs changes must be approved by administration. Student schedules are created using the following priority system:
About 2 or 3 Weeks Before School Starts: Cub Camp and Summer Bridge Camp - El Paso High School's new student orientation is called Cub Camp. Cub Camp is an EPHS tradition that no new student should miss! It's a fun-filled time (usually a day or two) where students get acquainted with the campus, meet their classmates, and get a chance to interact with some faculty and staff they'll be working with during their time at EPHS.
Summer Bridge camp provides P-TECH and STEM students an opportunity to spend some extra time (usually 1 or 2 days) at EPHS getting ready for their high school experience. This engaging camp usually takes place during the same week as Cub Camp, either right before or right after.
First Day of School - Being a Magnet and/or Special Programs Student is just one way to get the most out of your EPHS experience. Join a club, sport, or student organization. There's plenty of signs, posters, social media accounts, and announcements to let you know about all the great things EPHS has to offer. There are Class Meetings (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade) at the start of the year that will give you a great preview of how to be in the loop. Feel free to stop by the Counseling Suite or email [email protected] so we can discuss what opportunities may be best for you!
